Programs & services

What support actually looks like, step by step

All services are provided free of charge to people with locomotor impairments and their families, regardless of membership status, ethnicity, language, religion or place of residence in Moldova.

Mobility Equipment Distribution & Repair

Equipment is the single most requested form of support among our members. We keep a working stock, assess each request individually, and maintain what we hand out.

  • Assessment visits: a technician and a member representative measure the person, evaluate their home environment and recommend suitable equipment.
  • Distribution of manual wheelchairs, walking frames, crutches, canes, anti-decubitus cushions and bathroom safety aids.
  • Free repair and refitting service at our Comrat workshop — tyres, bearings, brakes, upholstery, footrests and frame welding.
  • Loan pool for short-term needs, such as recovery after hip or knee surgery.
  • Guidance and paperwork support for obtaining equipment through the state social-assistance system where eligibility exists.

Physical Rehabilitation & Wellness Support

We do not replace medical services. We make sure our members reach them, understand them, and keep going after the first month.

  • Group kinetotherapy sessions held twice weekly in our community room with a qualified therapist.
  • Home-based exercise guidance for members who cannot travel, including printed and illustrated plans.
  • Accompaniment to medical-social expertise commissions and orthopaedic appointments.
  • Referral and application support for state rehabilitation vouchers and sanatorium placements.
  • Psychological peer-support circle for newly injured members and their families.

Rights Advocacy & Urban Accessibility Consulting

Practical legal help for individuals, and technical work with institutions so that the same problem does not return next year.

  • Free legal counselling on disability status, pensions, allowances, employment rights and access to public services.
  • Representation and written submissions to local and district authorities on behalf of members.
  • Accessibility audits of public buildings — entrances, ramp gradients, door widths, handrails, sanitary facilities, signage.
  • Technical advice on ramp and lift design to municipalities, schools, clinics and private businesses, based on national construction norms.
  • Monitoring of implementation, with follow-up reports published in our annual activity report.

Community Socialisation & Skills Training

Isolation is as disabling as any staircase. This programme exists so that members have somewhere to go and something to build.

  • Eight-week digital literacy courses: basic computer use, e-government services, online banking and safety.
  • Employment preparation — CV writing, interview practice, and introductions to employers open to adapted workplaces.
  • Adapted sport activities, including table tennis and wheelchair athletics training days.
  • Cultural outings and holiday events, with accessible transport organised by the association.
  • A members' phone circle: volunteers call isolated members weekly to check in.

How to request support

Call us, write an email, or come to the office in Comrat during working hours. Requests are logged the same week and an assessment visit is normally arranged within 14 days. Requests from members living in villages are grouped so that our team can visit several households in one trip.
